My friend Chrissy asked me to have lunch with her at Holt’s Cafe because she received a Holt Renfrew gift card for Christmas. Of course I immediately agreed and was really looking forward to it! Celebrity chef Corbin Tomaszeski is the Executive Chef at Holt’s Cafe. The cafe is located inside Holt Renfrew (surprise surprise) on the second floor. Everything was very modern inside the cafe and service was exceptional.
For starters we ordered a Tapenade Board (Black Olives & Figs, Roasted Red Peppers, Green Olives & Artichoke). My favourite was the Black Olives & Figs because it was sweet and my least favourite was the Green Olives & Artichoke since it was over-the-board salty for my taste. We both decided on tartines for our main entree. After reading all those mouth-watering ingredients, how could we possibly not? Maybe next time I will choose the Truffle Oil Pizza though :D Chrissy got the Tartine with Oven-roasted tomatoes, buffalo milk mozzarella, roasted garlic and fresh basil. Mine was topped with POACHED EGGS, Kristapson’s smoked salmon, wild mushrooms, oven-roasted tomatoes and fresh basil. The ingredients tasted great together and I liked how they were not stingy with the toppings. The only down side in my opinion was that their food were not warm enough. I chose my favourite Creme Brulee with Ginger to finish off my meal and it was so delicious as expected. When my friend left for school, I went to a nearby Starbucks to do some marking and indulged in a Vanilla Bean Cupcake. A little bit of sweet indulgence doesn’t hurt, right? ;) Anything that’s made with vanilla bean just has to taste good, and this cute little cupcake surely didn’t disappoint!
