Onto my third Winterlicious meal for the year! I’ve always wanted to give Oliver & Bonacini a try, so with my friend, we went there for lunch. My appetizer was Haddock & Yukon Gold Potato Fritter. The ingredients were so fresh and tasty! Even though they were fried, I didn’t find them to be greasy or heavy at all. The Cream of Cauliflower Soup was warm and smooth which fitted the astoundingly cold weather outside. My entree was the Fusilli Bucati Alfredo. I fell in love with it after putting the first bite into my mouth. What’s there not to like about mushrooms in pasta with Alfredo sauce? I’m telling you, this pasta is to-die-for! Unfortunately this is only available during Winterlicious or else I would have it every day, haha! Maggie opted for the Bavarian Weisswurst and it was delicious too. The only complaint I have is that the sausage could be seared a bit more brown and the entree was simply not warm enough. For dessert was Peter Oliver’s Classic Carrot Cake and Bread & Butter Pudding. The lemon sorbet was so refreshing, and it was a great finish to a wonderful lunch. The cranberry sauce on the bread pudding was actually quite tangy, and I am never a fan of anything cranberry.
After lunch and some window shopping, we decided to head to a café where we could converse. I ordered a Cafe Mocha at Aux Délices Café de Bayview, which is also located inside Bayview Village. They have an assortment of beverages, pastries, desserts, and sandwiches. We were both immediately drawn to the beautiful display case of decadent tarts and cakes. I had the Mango cake and Maggie had the Pear cake. There were several layers to mine, and it was interesting to have been able to distinguish between each ingredient. I would absolutely return for their quiche and crème brûlée some time!
