I made my return visit to Clafouti on a warm, sunny day. I decided to spend the afternoon at Trinity Bellwoods Park while enjoying my baked goods. I went for their Hot Cocoa and the Mushroom & Asiago Croissant. The mushrooms tasted great, and the asiago complemented it just perfectly. It’s unbelievable how certain ingredients can taste so incredible together. For dessert, I opted for the decadent Lychee & Caramel Tart. As I devoured my savoury croissant and sipped my hot cocoa, I did some people watching and “aww” at every dog I saw at the park. I can’t even express how perfect that moment felt; simply amazing.

After Clafouti, I grabbed a Cappucinno at Dark Horse Espresso Bar. Their Queen Street West location is their newest cafe, and I finally made my visit. I’ve heard many great things about the quality of their coffees and their latte art. Every time I passed by Dark Horse, the place would be completely packed. Good thing I went at a less busy time and was able to stay for a bit. Their coffee has a great aroma to it, and the baristas are obviously well trained and know how to work that espresso machine. I felt so classy and sophisticated while I was enjoying their cappucinno and marking my students’ homework, haha!

So on the same day, I visited Petitie Thuet in the Business District. I chose their Vanilla Eclair and a Butter Croissant, along with an Earl Grey Tea. Caffeine much? I wanted to try their Almond Croissant as I read in a review that they’re “party in the mouth”, but they were sold out. I didn’t find their butter croissant to be exceptionally amazing, but it was definitely light, airy, and a bit crunchy. Their vanilla éclair was perfect in taste, texture, and presentation, so I was pretty satisifed with my visit!
