Inatei revisited

Almost a year ago, I had dinner at Inatei to celebrate my birthday. A year later, I’m back here again for my sushi fix ;) To read my previous review on Inatei, click here.

My blog stats tell me that people are desperately searching for Inatei’s menu since it’s not available online as they don’t have a website. Well, I tried to help some of you out by taking some quick, sloppy shots of their menu! I had to be sneaky because taking photos of their menu is not allowed and the waiters were walking around a lot. Anyway, I’ve posted it right at the bottom of this post and you can click on the photos to enlarge :)

Both Ruby and I ordered the Chirashi ($18.99). I know I always order chirashi when I’m at a Japanese restaurant, but I’m so in love with it.. you don’t understand. If I had to choose my last meal on earth, this would be it. So yes, you get the point, haha. My favourite place in Toronto to have chirashi is actually Yuzu, but Inatei offers a different assortment of sashimi and the quality is decent. I do wish their sushi rice was more moist and cooked softer though.

We also shared a Unagi Okonomiyaki ($9.99). Okonomiyaki is Japanese style pancake and unagi is eel. Although the presentation is rather flat, it tasted quite delicious. I have to say it was several times better than the okonomiyaki at Okonomi House ;) This okonomiyaki was crispy and slightly smokey on the outside, a tender interior, and not bland at all. The unagi was grilled perfectly and it’s always nice to see some moving bonito flakes on top, heh.

Eric had his Salmon skin hand rolls (2 for $3) and loved them. I’m not surprised because they’re darn tasty!

He also ordered the Curry Katsu combo ($13.99). The breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet was neither soggy nor tough, and it was a good portion. They weren’t stingy with the vegetables and the curry sauce had an ideal thickness. Eric enjoyed it pretty much so ;)

For dessert, we each had a a shot of complimentary coffee pudding. The coffee sauce on top was delish and the pudding itself was velvety smooth. One shot was not enough! Haha

I still think that Inatei is one of the better Japanese restaurants in the Markham and Richmond Hill area, but I heard Akasaka (nearby) is fairly good and they have teppanyaki. I still didn’t get to try their tofu cheesecake, but I did make it myself due to Eric and Ruby’s request! I’m such an awesome friend ;D
